For the cover photo of The Jewish Photographer, I wanted an image that expressed my overcoming of the doubts and uncertainty of embarking on this journey, and one that vibrated with optimism, not only for this effort but also for the lives of those exposed to this book. A photograph that spoke of the verse in Psalms 119:18 “Open My Eyes that I may see wondrous things”
In my piece published in the local newspaper is a thought that is as true of this image of the rainbow at the end of the road as it is and has been for my experience upon which The Jewish Photograph is based, namely: “There were photographs that were the result of attention to people and place, awareness that something was happening or being expressed, almost as if God was directing my lens and trigger finger.
The rainbow at the end of the road is my hope for how this effort will be received, and my hope for those who will be taking this path.
